You need a Google Wallet account to send money. Fortunately, once you add a debit or bank account to your account to purchase apps, Google automates the process. So if you’ve already purchased the app or added a payment source to your account, you can skip this step.
If you haven’t added a card, download the Google Wallet app to your device. Once installed, select the hamburger menu at the top left of your screen and select Payment Methods.
Select “Add a payment method” that appears at the bottom of the screen. By default, Google Wallet displays a form to set up a debit card. However, if you want to add a bank account, tap the Add Debit Card text to open a drop-down menu with options to add a bank account.

You can add credit cards, prepaid cards, and PayPal accounts to your Google Account to buy apps, but you can’t use these methods to send or receive money. If you’ve already added this account type, it will appear as a payment method in Google Wallet, but you can’t use it to send money.

Then select the paper clip icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select “Send money”. A pop-up menu will appear asking you to enter the amount to send. Enter the amount and select Add Money. Another pop-up will appear asking if you want to add a note. After selecting Done, you will see a notification in the body of the email that the money has been added.
If you want to request money, select the same paper clip mentioned in step 3, but select Request Money. Enter the amount you want to buy and select Add Request. Gmail asks if you want to add a note to your request. When you’re done, select Done and your request will appear in the body of the email.
