I had a “Money Hunt” when I was a kid. I remember putting puzzles together and rewriting the book. I don’t know what happened after that, but for some reason I haven’t forgotten it. Then, a few years ago, I saw an unlocked game for sale on eBay and bought it.

There is something magical about being the first to open something so long ago…it’s like its own buried treasure. Once I put the puzzle together and dived into the book, the urge finally subsided and I decided to search the internet for the solution.
There are some details about it on the site, and lots of people selling it, but almost nothing about maintenance, events people have, or memories of the game.
If I remember correctly, this is why I first contacted Jenny from Mysterious Writings (who also has one). Then he came on the site a few times recently, so we thought it was time to write an article about him.
“The Money Hunt: Reward $1,000,000” was released in 1985 by Trivia Games, Inc. Inside his box was a book, a puzzle and a large folded map of North America. A long arrow going through the different pages of the book shows the steps to be taken. The answer to the puzzle may be a specific location in North America. If you submit the correct solution, you will win $1,000,000.
The Royalties Conundrum
The book consists of 30 pages of crude pencil drawings (like “The Golden Apple Tale”) that include obvious puzzles such as riddles, cryptograms, words, phrases and random numbers. It has a registration card with the registration code you submitted when you bought the game and three different cards that you can write solutions and submit to the company.
Puzzles, when assembled, have the same image as a book cover. It includes this poem, which many consider the key to the puzzle:
“Now that you have put together the puzzle, this poem will help you find the treasure. We recommend reading the poem in the land of confusion many times. Now that we have started you on the right way to hunt for treasure , go to page 11, the pool page where people play cards…. One of those cards is the Queen of Spades – what does it mean? Look at the other symbols and all the other pictures are on the same page. If all else fails , read the instructions.
What can be found online is that there is some sort of legal dispute between Trivia Games, Inc and a company called World Wide Treasure Adventures, Inc. Trademarks of Trivia Games, Inc. was not restored. and the industry is apparently still dormant for a long time. The accounting firm Touche Rose (now known as Deloitte & Touche) holds the money in the solution, and it will be paid once the correct solution is solved. Over the years people tried to write to Deloitte & Touche for any answers or information, but as everyone knows, no one got an answer.
World’s Toughest Riddle Explained
The solution is unknown. According to some reports, the desired location for the solution is in New Brunswick, Canada. The only confirmation I can find for this is a reference to re-reading the puzzle instructions, and a random “N.B” on the instructions page. Caught in a sentence, possibly referring to New Brunswick.
That’s all there is really to know about the puzzle. I’ve been working on the puzzle a bit, but I’m not sure what to do with the solution. The puzzle would have been difficult in 1985, but it’s easy today with the Internet. I decoded some of the cryptograms in the book, only to find that it didn’t make sense.
I was hoping that one day I would know the solution to the puzzle and how the puzzle works, but I know that will never happen. I still enjoy reading the book from time to time, as I remember myself, wondering what the creators of the puzzle did, to rewrite the book 33 years ago, and -a dream about a forgotten treasure.
