Scholarships For Females Over 40 – Established in 2015, the Carolina Leadership Council Scholarship in honor of Lanier Brown May is a one-time $5,000 scholarship offered to first-year students based on merit and need. Fellows demonstrate leadership, citizenship and strength of character. The goal of the scholarship is to recruit 10 recipients in its first recruiting class, create a cohort of 40 students to join the board and become Carolina graduates, and generate $1,000,000,000 in donations.

Carolina has always been my number one school because there are so many programs that allow me to meet different people. This is important in my decision because life is about meeting new people and being able to adapt accordingly. I want to study abroad. Carolina has a program that allows you to focus on what you want to do in a global environment. I want to double major/minor in biology and public policy. I want to become a pediatric anesthesiologist because I care deeply about children and I love science and math. For anesthesia. Biology is an interesting field because you are always learning something new and can apply these specific discoveries to processes occurring on Earth.

My example. I have had many mentors in my life, but when it comes down to it, I am the leader. I am grateful to have been blessed with this scholarship. This scholarship eased the pressure on my parents to pay for my education. They worked hard to raise me, and now our family needs less work. The scholarships will make my education more meaningful because people believe in me that I can make a difference in my education at Carolina. Studying psychology will give you a broader perspective on the everyday people in our lives. We are all different people and sometimes it is impossible to see neutral people. During my stay at Carolina, I hoped that I would be able to communicate better with different people, regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnicity, etc.
My role model was my father, who impressed me as the strongest person I have ever known. He was an immigrant and had many witnesses of achieving a good life. No matter what she went through, she made it even better. She inspires me to be the best I can be. The idea of student debt is terrifying for millions of students, and I am no exception when it comes to stress. The first thing I do when I realize I got this scholarship is run to my parents with the biggest smile on my face. My parents and I had to change our lives to join UNC-Chapel Hill. The amount of support is incredible and I want to thank those who have provided me with this generous scholarship. Going to Carolina will give me what I need to live a great life and connect me with great people. On the other hand, I will be a better person who contributes to society. Thank you!
This scholarship was the reason I went to Carolina because my family couldn’t afford to study here. Thanks to this scholarship, I can get into my dream school. I decided to go to Carolina because they had what I wanted. They have the best basketball team and many activities I can choose from. I want to get out of my comfort zone and join some student organizations. I also want to try out bands that are outside of my comfort zone. I hope to study biology or science at Carolina. I’m not sure what my career path is, but I think I have plenty of time to pursue it. I’m focusing on my science degree because I love going to the lab and growing bacteria. I always wanted to do unexpected or unrealistic things, like study bacteria.

My role model is my mother because she always tries to pay for my education. He never rested and always made me feel bad. Even though he was cruel to me, I loved him because he wanted me to be happy. Before I left for Carolina, she told me that I could be whoever I wanted and that I wasn’t limited by what she told me to be when I was young. I want to be like that. I want to be a person who is not selfish, cares about others and wants others to be happy, but at the same time cheers for the best! When I was accepted to Carolina, I was very excited about my future. However, the academic competition made UNO the best school for me. I don’t have money, but luckily I received the Women’s Leadership Scholarship, which allowed me to come here and pursue my passion. I am very grateful to receive this scholarship.

The campus is very diverse and I enjoy being surrounded by generous people who encourage me to try new things. I am grateful that I went to a great school that allowed me to achieve all of my goals. Growing up, I lived in many different places and felt very lucky. Then I moved to a cleaner suburb and it was hard to find real connection.
Now that I’m here, I’m excited to be at Carolina. I am excited to come to Carolina and take advantage of all the opportunities this school has to offer. I hope to join a club sports team and even start a new club on campus. I’m excited to join the ridicule and social justice club while I’m here. I also noticed a few law firms near campus that I wanted to learn more about. My goal is to complete my political science studies and continue my studies in law. I hope that crime prevention will be included in the reform of our criminal justice system. I believe that there is discrimination and inequality in our world, especially in the courts. I hope to counter this and create a world where the law is equal for all. I was excited to study politics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am very excited about this trip because I hope to continue my education and go to law school. My goal is to work for a nonprofit called The Innovation Project and challenge misconceptions.
My career role model is Brian Stevenson. I try to show my attention and passion, which I radiate to others. My biggest role model in life is my sister. Even though she was younger than me, she taught me every day the importance of love and support. I work every day to show him that if you work hard, you can achieve your dreams. I hope to take his kindness with me as I continue my journey through the Carolinas. I look forward to representing the Women’s Leadership Council with enthusiasm and sincerity for the next four years and beyond.
