We are pleased to announce that Jazrelle Kellough is returning to teaching at the American Dance Institute after taking some time off to focus on school. Jazrelle will be teaching Hip-Hop on Mondays at our Shoreline studio starting October 30th. Welcome back Jaz! It’s good to have you back.

Dancing has been an integral part of Morgan Thompson’s life since she was 8 years old. He studied ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz and rap.

Rap was clearly his forte and he auditioned and performed with Breaking Point Dance Company (BPDC) for five years. Since then he has been part of several Washington performance companies: DC9, Next Edition, Bad Kids, and Contagious. The last company I started teaching at 16 years old.

He then attended Accord College and graduated with a degree in theater arts. While there, he focused on teaching at FYI Dance Studio. He teaches at a school for disadvantaged children and also teaches after-school classes. After graduating, Morgan returned to her home in the Great Pacific Northwest and is once again spreading her love for dance.

“I liked learning the basics of rap, says Morgan, and I pass that on to my students. In my class we don’t just learn rap, but we learn different styles of rap: popping, locking, hips, breaking, modern. studio and a lot more. I love to bring positivity and energy to my classes so be ready to get up and move when you’re with me!” These are very difficult times for all local dance studios and other small businesses, we appreciate any help from our local community to help us get through this until things get back to normal.

1 new series of Hip Hop 6wks ends March 15th this year. Sorry, (no one hesitates this Sunday) This is an attempt to respect social distancing recommendations and keep class sizes small and ending on the weekend. The last class of your 6wk series can be credit for the next series.

Sign up for January $75 or $85 a week pre-register for a 6wk series or buy a 10-20 package and attend all hip hop or jazz funk classes.

There are 10-20 package passes available for purchase at our studio, all of which are good for hip hop and funk jazz classes.

If you are registering on the day of class, please call when it is open and we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early to register.

Cancellations after Tekken 1-2 classes or missing the first or second class of a 5-6 week series, there are no refunds.

B. Funk Dance Company

If you sign up in person or via Paypal at our regular price, you can credit a percentage, but you must pay the balance of $40 to start a new series. * All credits expire 90 days from the date the student first enrolled.

All event cancellations at the venue or our studio less than 2 weeks from the event date are 50% refundable from Belltown Dance Studio only.

In case of cancellation after Tekken 1-2 classes or missing the first or second class of a 6-week series, there is no refund.

One teacher 1 student $65 hour or couples $75 hour $32/$37 -1/2 hour, two teachers $75 hour $37 hour. All pvt lessons must be prepaid.

*12 hours required to cancel or forfeit 50% of your pre-paid amount to cover our floor fees and the travel time of our instructors.

If you are a new Salsa student, you will be at basic level 1, you can try to do 2 sets of this level, 1-2 some students may only take 1 set to move up. If you are not sure, talk to your instructor before you go up.

Shoes: Be sure to wear dance shoes or shoes with less traction on the soles, as this will allow you to move more easily. Please make sure your street shoes have non-branded soles and no exposed nails or tape that could damage the dance floor.

Seattle Ballet & Dance Intensive

Kristen Grace is a hip hop and jazz funk instructor with over 11 years of experience in the South Sound. She is currently the director of The Beat Box: a hip hop dance studio at Studio West Dance Academy, choreographs both senior and junior groups at The Beat Box (ADGE and Beat Box Juniors) and instructs advanced beginner classes at Olympia. She teaches jazz funk and rap at Belltown Dance Studio in Seattle, choreographs for Scintillation Showchoir at Wilson High School and DanceBlast for Curtis High School in Tacoma, and many other schools and studios throughout Washington.

She danced with the Audacity Cru for 2 years, working with the team for the WOD LA Finals in 2015. Prior to Audacity, she danced competitively on her high school dance team (H2Whoa), choreographed for her college team (PLU) and trained with Zero Gravity ( MORE). DASH Centre) and Femme Fatale (Koncrete Studios). She is passionate about bringing new life to the dance community and nurturing dancers who have the skills and confidence to pursue their art as they choose.

James first started dancing 8 years ago, jumping first into the break. Since then he has trained, competed and performed urban choreography, most recently with McGill’s Urban Groove Dance Project for 3 years. He is currently training actively at Partner Style Hustle and continues to develop his choreography in the lyric-urban style.

In 2010, Patrick Kim started out as a self-taught rap and R&B dancer. Starting as a hobby and pastime, he then began to pursue dancing as a lifestyle, and began learning choreography from the following year. He has taken many dance camps and classes in Texas, California, Vancouver and here in Washington. Eventually he started learning how to create his own crafts and pieces. Since 2014, he has performed at many events in schools, Seattle music festivals, and taught hip hop classes at various dance studios. Pádraig’s goal is to teach others to excel in their knowledge and help excel not only in the history of dance, but in the expression of art and individual creativity and music. He hopes to inspire and motivate everyone to not only pursue their dreams and goals, but also enjoy what they do. And most importantly, have fun. Many of his friends follow the same motto, “Live to inspire and be inspired”.
