If you see the waterfall in person, you’ll probably get a surprised emoji face. At least that’s how I felt!

Niagara Falls consists of three waterfalls and is located on the border of Canada and the United States. But luckily for Canadians or anyone visiting Canada, some of the best views in Canada are in Ontario! If you’re looking forward to a day trip, there are Niagara Falls tour options from Toronto.

Thousand Islands, Toronto & Niagara Falls A 4 Day Road Trip

If you’re like me and like to leave the planning up to someone else, the best way to visit Niagara Falls from Toronto is as part of a tour. Don’t worry, come here and check out this amazing place. Watching Toronto traffic!

Here are five of the best Niagara Falls tours from Toronto. To help you choose which one to go to, I’ve even included a selection of my tours!

Niagara Falls is estimated to be about 12,000 years old. If you can believe it, that’s pretty “young” as far as large geological features are concerned.

Firstly, the waterfall was created with the help of glaciers that formed a large lake in the area. Water flowing from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario dammed the Niagara River, creating Niagara Falls.

As mentioned earlier, Niagara Falls is not just one waterfall, but three waterfalls. Bridal Veil Falls, American Falls, and Horseshoe Falls (the largest on the Canadian side). When you see Niagara Falls, especially Horseshoe Falls, you may be amazed by the power of water. This waterfall contains enough water (approximately 600,000 gallons/2.5 million liters) to fill an Olympic swimming pool!

At night, the amount of water flowing over the falls is reduced to about half that during the day. Some water is diverted to power plants in the United States and Canada between 9 PM and 8 AM each day. But it gets back into full swing during weekly viewing hours!

Niagara Falls is located on the border between Canada and the United States and can be visited from New York or Ontario. Without a doubt, the best views are from the Ontario side and are ideal to visit from Toronto!

The waterfalls are connected by a rainbow bridge. You can walk over this bridge for a great view of the falls (or fireworks!). Just keep in mind that if you want to cross the bridge and get to the entire falls, you’re entering another country and you’ll need your passport!

Niagara Falls Travel Guide

The best time to visit Niagara Falls is during the summer months between June and August, but it can be very crowded. Temperatures will be at their warmest during this period. The mist from the falls is refreshing, especially if your visit includes a cruise on the water!

Although visiting the falls is technically free, we found it to be well worth the trip! This is especially true if you’re looking to do a day trip from Toronto. You’ll need transportation to get here, and if you don’t want to deal with Toronto’s traffic or need parking, a tour that includes a round trip is a huge plus.

Plus, many tours from Toronto include some really cool extras. The one we went to (#1 on the list below!) included a picnic by the water so we could feel the mist coming from the falls. Some tours include cool extra activities like winery tours or helicopter flights over waterfalls!

No matter how many of the waterfalls you choose to experience, your visit will enhance your experience and make it an unforgettable day!

We liked that the bus made a few stops along the way. First we stopped for a wine tasting at Niagara College Teaching Winery. And let me tell you, maybe it was the school, but the wine was great! Oh, and there’s nothing better than a little wine at 11am!

After another short drive we arrived at Niagara Falls, where we had time to walk around and see the falls from all sides. It was so much fun! Walk the trails to see the falls from all angles.

Then it’s lunch time! In the fall and winter, a three-course lunch is included at Table Rock House Restaurant. A restaurant that can be seen beyond the wall!! During the spring and summer, dine at the Queen Victoria Place restaurant. We were there in the summer and enjoyed our lunch. Sure, the dining experience isn’t great, but the food is still delicious.

Our journey has begun! The Hornblower cruise was definitely a highlight. Although it’s a short trip, it’s natural to see the power of Niagara Falls and get wet! If you are here and there are no cruises running, you can experience a trip behind the falls. This allows you to see the massive water falling from the observation deck right behind the falls!

How To Get From Toronto To Niagara Falls [all Transport Options]

Finally, we had time to shop and explore the beautiful city of Niagara on the Lake, with beautiful boutiques, historic buildings, and beautiful flower displays. We stopped for beer and snacks at Shore Cafe and Wine Bar, which I highly recommend!

Niagara Falls was definitely the star of the day, but this trip also had many unique extras that we really enjoyed. Tickets are $180 CD each and considering the whole experience we couldn’t have done it any cheaper on our own and it was all amazing to plan!

Niagara Falls day trips are slightly cheaper than the previously mentioned tours, and you have more freedom to choose your activities, allowing you to create your own itinerary!

Pickup begins at 8:00 AM from the bus loading area outside Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. The bus travels to Niagara Falls via the Niagara Parkway, which Winston Churchill once called “the most beautiful Sunday drive in the world,” so you know it’s scenic! Depending on the time, be sure to take a few photos along the way, including the world’s smallest church and the beautiful flower clock.

Niagara Falls Travel Cost

Once you arrive at Niagara Falls, you will have 3 hours of free time to explore on your own! If you’re a traveler looking to escape the group travel experience, now is a great time.

Unlike river cruises in Washington DC where meals are included, you will need to buy lunch from a local restaurant or fast food joint. But you can still dine while looking out at the fall scenery. If you’d like, you can book a cruise on the water, hike behind the falls, or watch the stunning 4D film Niagara’s Fury. You’ll also have the opportunity to walk around and explore the casino or explore “Fun Street” (aka Clifton Hill), which features arcades, mini golf, and a Ferris wheel.

If you choose not to cruise, the entire experience is $99 CAD, or $135 CAD including the 20-minute Hornblower Cruise. Highly recommend this price!

We love tours, but large group tours aren’t always what we want and this Niagara Falls small group is just that.
