Water: Water nourishes the yeast and nourishes the bread. You need warm water to dissolve the yeast.
How To Make No Yeast Whole Wheat Bread At Home
Yeast: I prefer active dry yeast for baking. It allows for a slow rise before the flavor really develops, and is cheap, easy to buy and store.
Another option is yeast. If you go this route, you need 0.75x the volume, and you can cut it down to 15 to 20 minutes.
In any case, check the expiration date on the package and make sure it hasn’t expired. In this case, the yeast may die and your bread will not rise properly.
