Summer Programs For Gifted And Talented Students – Summer is here and you may be wondering what activities or events are available for your child to participate in. We’ve done the research for you and compiled a list of great Summer programs that help gifted youth. All of these programs come from the Gifted Resource Center (GRC), a database of the Institute for Advancement in Education. GRC is a free government resource that serves as an online database of resources related to gifted students from elementary school through high school. GRC has resources and information about media, programs and organizations, schools, scholarships, other educational opportunities, research and consulting experts, and double honors awards (2e).
Below is an example of some companies that offer and offer summer jobs. More information about these programs and many others not listed here is available in the Youth Programs and Careers Guide.
Summer Programs For Gifted And Talented Students

Girls to Code is currently offering a 7-week summer program for girls in grades 10-11 to learn to code and explore careers in technology. Each week, the program covers computer science-related projects such as art, storytelling, robotics, video games, websites and apps. Participants will also hear from guest speakers, participate in workshops, network with female engineers and entrepreneurs, and go on field trips. The activity ends with a final project where students make their own product and share it with the class.

The Digital Media Academy is a nationally recognized organization that offers summer camps and computer days for teens and young adults (ages 9-13).
Summer studies are pre-college academic enrichment programs that provide middle and high school students with valuable summer experiences of a lifetime. Choose from over 300 social science majors at 14 different university locations in the US and abroad. Their summer programs combine education with social activities, travel, recreation and sports.
CodeREV Kids offers classes and curriculum for students ages 6-18 focused on exploring STEM through coding, technology and robotics. Project-based classes allow students to engage in deep learning through unique creative and hands-on projects. CodeREV offers classes and summer tech camps in various locations throughout Southern California: Santa Monica, Solana Beach, Encino, Irvine, Beverly Hills, Fountain Valley/Huntington Beach, and Malibu/the Palisades.
Girls’ Garage is a design and construction program and workshop for girls ages 9-17. Based in Berkeley, California, it offers after-school programs, summer camps and after-school programs.
Talent Development Institute
It provides students in Kindergarten through 8th grade with rich learning opportunities that encourage exploration and application of knowledge. Lessons are taught by local experts and are taught flexibly to meet the learning needs of gifted and 2e students. Classes are small and divided by strength rather than time series. The IEA Academy session is held in Pasadena, California and is held in the following seasons: fall, spring, and summer (three sessions are held each summer).
Stanford Summer College offers outstanding college students the opportunity to take courses at Stanford College and earn a college degree. Program participants enroll as visiting undergraduates during the Stanford Summer semester and take the same courses as Stanford students.
Summer@HPA offers students entering grades 6-12 a unique four-day, one-week residential experience designed to enhance their education and is designed to make the most of the summer and take advantage of the island’s 80 percent world-class environment. A variety of classroom resources integrate environmental protection and awareness, as well as education and sustainable practices.

From early childhood through elementary, middle, and high school, the Center for Gifted Development’s (CTD) summer gifted programs encourage gifted children to explore areas of interest and connect with their peer community. CTD offers a life-changing residential program offering challenging, honors and Advanced Placement courses taught in a highly supportive environment.
Featured California Schools For Gifted Learners
The Summer Academy is a two-week educational program designed to give US and international rising 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to experience college life for two weeks during the summer. During their time on campus, students take one of a variety of classes, such as test preparation, debate, engineering, art, or literature, and earn ½ of Carnegie High School credit for that class.
Quad Manhattan is a meeting place for four kids included – where social skills are developed “in life” through FUN! One or two children have exceptional intellectual or creative abilities, and their social or leadership skills are poor. With specialists in gifted medicine, pediatrics, and special education, Quad uses children’s strengths and interests to develop their skills and creativity and engage them in after-school and activities during our summer camp.
Carnegie Mellon’s Pre-College program will show you what college life is like—from classes to what happens on the weekends. Carnegie Mellon offers pre-college summer programs in a variety of subjects including math, science, architecture, drama, music, art, and sports. There is no tuition, room or board fee for students selected to participate in the Summer Program.
Summer Wonders is a non-residential, full-time or part-time program that gives students the opportunity to explore a variety of topics in an intensive, interactive, hands-on, non-traditional environment. Summer Wonders is a special program for gifted children entering preschool through 6th grade and is held in two separate weekly sessions at ACE Academy in Austin, Texas.
Why Few Programs For Gifted Students Exist At Ma Public Schools
A gifted student, Cassidy Kao published her first book at age 8 and founded iPoetTree at age 12. The non-profit organization aims to foster a love of writing in children from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Cassidy offers a fun and free course, a supportive space to share poetry and help you become a published author.
