The Sound/Scent installation features 1,500 cent strips printed with cent ink and sounds reminiscent of a printing press studio (grinding of printer motors, whirring of rovers, squeezing of ink). The resulting installation is a deconstruction of the printing laboratory.

About 7 years ago, I became interested in creating pairings of music and fragrance and had the idea of creating a series of works – works – combining these two artistic worlds. In preparation, I began studying smell and how our noses work and exploring smell as an art form. I began experimenting with combining scent and sound by hosting a series of “aroma dinners” at home, where I would pair alternating courses of food and aroma with my music. My intention is not to copy or translate aromas with music, but to enhance and enhance the experience, just like adding food and wine.

Canton City Ballet — The Theodora Dance Conservatory
