! When I saw this beautiful flower I knew I wanted to make it and I want to show you that you can make your own flower. Instead of buying a rose, I decided to make my own out of paper because it’s so easy to insert the fairy lights! Here’s what you need to get started on your own DIY Beauty and the Beast Rose and the Jar!

I have a special tutorial on how to make a flower that you want to check out first. This flower does not add light. Here is a video on how to make paper lanterns – step by step pictures below.
Step 1: Cut out your flowers and pages using my cut SVG files (design #22) or templates from my library.

Step 5: Once the glue is dry and the lights are attached, place the flower lid inside the pipe and roll it up. The light is wrapped around the paper.
Step 6: Once you’ve rolled the rose, fold under the circle and remove the onion tool. The rose opens your hand a bit, but not like a lighted rose. Open the rose shape as needed, gently separating the petals if necessary. You can change the flower bed in the center to display more flowers. The animal flower is in full bloom or pre-bloom, so it opens up a bit.
Step 7: When you love your flowers, apply glue (very well) to the bottom of the petals and press them into a circle. Press and hold.
Step 8: With glue (and still pressing down on the flower), use a tool (or the edge of something long) to roll up the edges of the petals. Rounded edges will make your book look realistic and take up more space. Stop when finished.

Step 9: Place the cut leaf on a paper towel and use the tip of the stencil to trace the leaf-like lines. Draw a long line from the top, then add a line outside and above the center line to the edge of the sheet.
Step 10: Cut 4-5″ of petals and tie each flower back.
Step 11: Take 18″ of wire log (or cut 18″ of fabric and wrap with fabric). Bend under 6-7″ cut a strip of tape 3-4″ and begin covering the stem at the top of the bend. It will be better if you gently pull the tape when overlapping. Cover a few centimeters from the bottom (above the bend).
Step 12: Place the larger leaf on the stem (the edge of the leaf you want to show should be on the stem) and continue embroidering. When you’re about 2/3 of the way up the stem, add smaller leaves and finish all but the last 1/4″.

Step 13: Insert the end of the string under the center of the bead and turn 1/4″ to a 90° angle.

Step 1: Find and mark the center of the plate. Now it’s a place to cut one side. My parts are only about 1/4 inch thick to fit under the stem and spine. I used a table saw for this, but a handsaw will work just as well. If you don’t mind your string routing, you can skip this step.
Step 4: Make different shades of gray from white to soft dark gray. Draw lines on the plate with the tip of the brush. All lines must go in one direction.

Step 7: Repeat steps 4-6 several times to create a smooth marble pattern. First paint the same strokes and then add small branches. Repeat until you are happy with the marble design.
As you can see, I ended up with a very marbled effect, which is exactly what I wanted. More layers and a white shirt will make more of an impact. It’s your choice!
The rose is covered with a beautiful glass cover (bell) with a pattern of intricate swirling lines. I try to practice these lines by carefully studying video clips. We will simulate this using our box. Step 1: Using the SVG cutting file in my library, cut out the swing line using plastic scissors. Note that I’ve prepared a page with different columns – it’s up to you if you want one or two pages. I have also attached a separate file if you want to print multiple copies of some of the lines.
