Decorative Ways To Hide Cords – Don’t like messy cables running under the TV on the wall or behind the TV stand? It took me years to wall mount the TV in the living room because I didn’t want the cable to ruin the whole look of the room. I already hate how they look behind the TV stand, I think you need an electrician or some special skill to hide the hanging wires. Luckily for me, that’s not true! Today I will show you how to mount the TV and how to hide the wires in the wall. Anyone can do it!

Smart Ways To Hide Cords And Wires All Over The House
When I ordered furniture for the living room, I ordered a coffee table, an end table, and a sofa table. I don’t think we need two end tables, so a sofa table seems like a good option. Now I wish I had ordered two end tables, but this cute little ladder shelf works perfectly for one right now. My husband owned a TV stand before we met and has for the past seven years. I hated it at first, so when we moved I was eager to set up the TV and get rid of it!
Getting the coffee table was the best thing I could have done because even though I don’t have a fireplace, I can now decorate like I do! I put a coffee table under the TV with hidden wiring and left at least a foot of space between the bottom of the TV and the table.
That is our position. I started removing all the decorations and stuff around the booth when I remembered to take pictures. The cabin is the work of Better Homes & Gardens, a Walmart offering. They have some nice stuff, but I’m not writing it!
We put the TV on the wall that opens the door to enter the house. Opposite is a larger open plan living/kitchen area. You can see the hallway that leads to the whole house. In this case, I had to provide enough space for the door to open easily. Once I know how far the door will open, I can mark where I want the TV center.
Hiding Cords For Wall Sconces & Picture Lights
Then I measured the height of the sofa table and marked it below the first mark. As I mentioned before, I wanted a lot of space to decorate it, so I measured and marked the legs.
The wall where we hang the TV is missing two studs where they should be. Fortunately, the mount I purchased can be mounted on a single stud.
Use a stud finder to find the studs and mark the center (or them). Using pins that can tell you where the electrical wires are will help a lot. Initially, there were wires where we got caught, so we had to move on to the next one. I put an X on the wall where the wire starts and ends.
Now follow the installation instructions and hang it on the wall. First you have to put the bar I used on the TV. After that, we install the wall part and hang the cardboard guide on the wall. Make sure the driver is level before attaching the offset screws to the wall. Due to the long screw, turn off the power before drilling to avoid accidents.
How To Hide Cords And Outlets In Every Room
To make sure the TV is where we want it, we hang it on a stand. The tilt function is also protected where we want it. I forgot to take a picture of the hanging TV cord before I hid it behind the wall. When you’re done, mark where the power cable will go to easily hide the wire.
The Legrand set you bought is very easy to install, but first make sure that the TV’s power cable is suitable for it. I had to take the Samsung TV cable and replace it with my son’s TV cable. The Samsung plug is sideways, so it sits flush with the wall. This is a big negative because the cable tray can only accommodate cables up to 1 1/8 inches wide. Fortunately, our son is working. I almost had a heart attack before that!
Place the round wall insert on the wall where you want it and mark the center. I also made a small mark on the top, bottom and each side of both. Our TV is very close to the outlet, so we can go straight down, straight down the back, even with the outlet.
Attach the circular saw drill that comes with the drill. Place it in the center of the top mark and drill a circle into the wall. Repeat at the bottom. Be sure to turn off the power before drilling. Some of my photos are dark because the power is off and the sun is out.
It’s Time To Hide Your Tv Wires And Wrangle Those Cords For Good
I hate that the previous owner’s sockets and caps didn’t match! Ugh! Also the wall color is terrible. Can’t wait to change it!
Feed the power cable through the top hole at the top of the wiring harness. Some kits have a transfer tape, but ours does not. The instructions say so, but the Amazon description doesn’t cover it. The tape instructions provided seem more difficult than we do! Just pull the wire through the top and pull it out of the bottom hole!
Thought I’d include this photo to show what the thread looks like. This is our Amazon Fire Stick cable and power cord. After that we ran behind the wall.

Now connect the power cable from the top of the cable hider down. Put it on the wall. We’re still leaning forward a bit, so we cut the little mounting squares in half, placed them behind the frame, and then pressed them into the wall.
How To Hide Tv Cables And Wires In The Living Room
That is all! Connect the TV cable to the cable assembly and hang it on the wall. Isn’t it easy? Less than three hours of work is worth it! I used twist ties around the wiring harness power cable and wrapped it back and shortened it since it is so close to the outlet.
It really is that simple! I tell you, I could do it myself if I had to. If you hang, let me know how it goes and tag me in a photo on social media (@)!
