Healthy Cheap Snacks For Work – Since my husband has been a picky eater for a long time, I am always looking for healthy meals to take him to the office. The need for food increases when his work is done and he burns the midnight oil. Often this means reaching for what’s left of work in the kitchen, which isn’t always a healthy bet. Recently, when she had two weeks of extra time off, she asked me if I would help her with her food game. With a little research, I came up with 9 healthy snacks for work. It helped him, so maybe it will help you too.
My plan was to go beyond the standard crunch, away from all carbohydrate foods and include more nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables and foods high in protein and healthy fats. Searching the aisles of my local market, I came up with the following:
Healthy Cheap Snacks For Work

It provides nutrients and plant fiber with healthy fats, proteins and the presence of nuts and seeds. These disposable bags mean you can keep them on your desk, no refrigeration required.
Healthy Snack Ideas
Yogurt is a popular source of calcium and protein, but is often high in sugar. Choosing a low sugar brand such as sagi or yogurt is a good way to go.
By including some of my kids’ favorite foods, I thought it would be good for their dad too. Carrots are low in nutrients, while cottage cheese provides calcium and protein and makes for a more filling meal than carrots alone.
If you want something spicy at work, hot edamame beats hot Cheetos. Spicy soybeans are a protein-rich option that provides better nutrition than processed snacks.
While it doesn’t offer much protein, organic ramen (meaning it’s not loaded with MSG) is a comforting option when it’s time to finish lunch.
Boiled Egg Snack Packs
Sifting through the big boxes on the market means you can customize your track mix using the best stuff you like and avoid the ones you don’t. Focusing on nuts and seeds is a good way to go as long as you finish the whole jar in one sitting (they’re really healthy, but also high in calories).
Hummus just helps with portion control and makes for a light meal. I love the hummus flavor by the Bitter Bean Company. Paired with whole wheat crackers, this is a healthy and comforting snack.
Oatmeal is hardly the sexiest snack to hold (which is good, because we don’t want things to get too hot in the office). This steel-cut oatmeal is high in fiber with a low glycemic index, meaning it will keep you fuller for longer.

Another snack that satisfies crusty and spicy cravings, but with plenty of fiber and protein.
Inspired By This Sub To Make Healthy Snacks For Work. First Attempt At Health In 2019!
Hi, I’m Kathy, a mother of three, food writer, and registered dietitian with one goal: to simplify your everyday eating experience by providing delicious recipes, helpful tips, and nutritional information. You come home hungry because you didn’t eat lunch, but it’s not dinner time.
Let’s talk about healthy sitting ideas today. I have always been a light eater. Not an afternoon goes by without it. Hubby doesn’t eat at work, but it’s pretty much the first thing he does when he walks in the door in the evening.
Since we eat dinner late (8 or 9 pm), he needs something to give him energy to play squash, exercise, etc.
Lately he has a bad habit of not eating when he comes home. Nuts are a great choice, however, 2 cups of nuts a day is not enough.
Healthy Lunch Ideas You Can Make In 10 Minutes
When I told him he had to cut it, he complained that he didn’t know what else to eat.
So a few weeks ago I started brainstorming healthy snack ideas and took it upon myself to make sure we had enough to tackle!

Eating to feel good is personal. But for many people, SNACKS are an important part of the equation.
Think between meals. They pressure you until you eat a balanced, nutritious diet.
Healthy Snack Ideas For Office & Work
Over the years that I have been in business, I have found that many of my customers need something to eat with lunch and dinner. Once my clients learn how to eat a balanced breakfast, they often don’t need an afternoon snack. However, the time between lunch and dinner is usually longer between breakfast and lunch.
Just because it works for most people doesn’t mean it will work for you. Or you work for yourself every day. There may be days when half breakfast is necessary. Or you can set it up for lunch.
Snacks are important because they prevent you from skipping the next meal. Going to dinner too hungry can cause you to overeat and feel full.
To increase your energy, boost productivity and feel better, aim to combine protein and/or fat with fiber-rich carbohydrates.
Quick And Healthy Home Office Snacks Ideas
This will keep you from walking around the dining room all day, sitting at your desk and falling asleep… especially if you work from home and your desk is your space (you’re not alone!).
There is no “right” recipe for food. It can change from day to day, depending on your mood, what sounds best, etc.
I usually advise my clients to choose 1 protein meal + 1 fiber meal to keep it simple. Once they get used to cooking their own meals, I suggest they choose 2/3 of the major food groups. So you can combine high carb and high fat or high protein and high fat foods.
To make it easier, you can mix and match healthy snacks by choosing 1 food from each food group that works for you:
Healthy Snacks For Lunch At Work Or School
It can be hard to come up with new and exciting ideas that will keep you satisfied, so I’ve put together 25 healthy snacks to enjoy while working from home.
1. Nut Free Lara Bar Loakliks – Nut free bars are hard to find (my favorite is 88 oz), but these “Lara Bar” Loakliks are easy and a delicious snack!
2. Crispy Baked Edamame – You can make your own or buy pre-made dried edamame. I especially like the personal pieces that I put in my purse when I’m out and about. Seapoint Farms also provides a wasabi flavor if you’re into spicy things!
3. Hummus + Veggies – This is a great snack if you’re a big eater (like you eat large portions of food to feel full). Most vegetables contain water to fill you up, but after a while you’ll get hungry on your own. Hummus provides “staying power.” You can use store-bought hummus or homemade whatever beans you may have from the coronavirus quarantine.

5. Healthy Cookie Dough with Apple Chunks – You’d Never Know Beans Can Taste Like Cookie Dough – No Kidding! This is one of my favorite recipes in our house.
6. Seed Crackers + Any Dip/Spread – These seed crackers are great to make because they are full of healthy fats and protein. Pair with any outfit / spread your heart’s desire for extra oomph, or enjoy alone.
7. Tuna Salad on Cucumbers – This is a favorite “small meal” recipe for lunch or dinner – satisfying, filling and full of protein. Many tuna salad recipes have added fat, so a mixture of cucumber or pepper slices is ideal.
