The president of NQ Dry Tropics, Mark Stoneman AM, explained that this document – an update of the original NRM plan from 2005 – was developed over three years under the leadership of a dedicated community group in consultation with landowners, experts, land conservation groups, government. , both industrial and Burdekin Dry Tropics wide range.
Sustainable Management Of Natural Resources
“This project is for the people of the Burdekin Dry Tropical Region, which covers 10 per cent of Queensland,” Mr Stoneman said.
“Funded by the Australian Government, it aims to continue to promote and lead the region’s natural resources – including the Great Barrier Reef National Park and Bowling Green National Park – to be managed and protected.
“Good decisions now will promote and protect important resources such as water, land, plants and animals, rivers and beaches.
“It is important that we protect these resources so that future generations can swim, dive, fish, raise cattle, grow crops, and continue to live the good lives that our communities have.”
School Of The Environment
NQ Dry Tropics strategy and engagement manager Donna Turner said the plan was an action document that would be developed to accurately reflect the priorities, challenges and opportunities facing the Burdekin Dry Tropics community.
“This project will help fund the environment run by farmers, pastoralists, other landowners and community groups,” Ms Turner said.
“Some of the management measures mentioned in the revised plan include methods that reduce the need for agricultural imports such as Nitrogen and pesticides, improve irrigation and water quality, control weeds and animals.

“We identify challenges and solutions in five key areas, and how governments, land managers and the wider community can work together to ensure our natural resources continue to be an asset for us all in the future,” Ms Turner said.

Introduction The polluted river Ganga serves as a dumping ground for more than 100 districts covering Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. The dumping of untreated waste, waste, and chemicals from industry increases the toxicity of water. This allows plants and animals to live in the river. In 1985 GAP (Ganges Action Plan) was launched to improve the water quality of the Ganges River. Reduce, reuse and recycle 3 R’s to protect the environment can be done by everyone in our society: Reduce: Reduce our consumption and waste processes. For example, do not waste food, turn off the switch to save electricity, repair leaking pipes, reduce the number of water for washing etc. Recycle: Using things again instead of throwing them away. For example, recycling plastic containers and bottles. Many things cannot be recycled or require a lot of energy, instead, we can use them for other purposes. Recycling: Taking waste from plastic, paper, glass or metal into a different product rather than from scratch. It should have a machine to separate and dispose of each type of waste separately.
