How To Make Naan Bread Recipe

Someone in the family has died. Rest in peace Ethel. She died last week in Shelby, Montana, and will lie there forever.

Ethel is our old Buick. You can’t really blame them for kicking the can at 220,000 miles, but it was certainly uncomfortable for us. Eric’s dad, Chip (we later called him “Chip the Rescuer”) drove 7 hours each way to pick us up.
This led to us spending a long, long time in Shelby, Montana. Poor Ethel was completely useless so we only knew places within walking distance. We cruised down Main Street in the stroller and ended up at the most respectable looking place serving food: the Montana Club Bar.
We were greeted at the door by a very pampered couple (mind you, it was 6pm). Nothing they said made any sense and Eric and I laughed and pretended to share the joke. I looked around and saw the most desolate hell I had ever seen. The smoke was hazy. Greasy, dirty table tops. The filling comes from a bar stool. There were piles of trash and discarded furniture everywhere. Wires protruded from the missing ceiling.
We pulled Charlotte closer to a table. I started to look around for a high chair, but had to remind myself that I was walking into the bar with a 17 month old baby, so no, there was no high chair.
Crazy Dough Naan
Finally an old guy with dirty hair came to take our order. My first thought was
, but then I realized that maybe he was like this and I tried to clear my mind and think happy thoughts. I started to ask about the chicken ranch burrito, but before I could finish, he had a fever. “
And added the evil eye. I’m not sure if he meant they were out of chicken or I was out of chicken.

Luckily we got out alive. (After passing the drunk couple at the door again, they yelled at us that it was a shame there was no children’s menu.) No joke.
Naan With Sour Cream
Okay At least we came out of the ordeal with a surprisingly delicious Philly cheesesteak and solid confirmation that it’s generally a good idea to stay away from alcohol. Or maybe we just learned that it’s always a good idea to stay away from Shelby Montana.
Have you ever had naan at a restaurant? Indian food without naan is not Indian food (at least in my book). This is the most delicious sandwich you will ever eat. Honestly, if this was the only food they served at an Indian restaurant, I’d still go. It’s so good. (There are no Indian restaurants in Shelby. Get out.)
Naan is traditionally made in a 900° Tandoori oven, but I’m sure you don’t have one. Neither do I, so our best option is to use the stove. (I’ve tried doing it in an oven at 500° but had poor results each time).
Start by heating up some milk and sugar. Oops, did I just admit I used sour cream instead of yogurt? oops. Now I have done it. But guys…I really love sugar. I like the taste. I love how thick and bold it is. I especially love that it is always hanging in my fridge.
Easy 4 Ingredient Vegan Naan Bread: No Yogurt
The yogurt is also great and the naan is definitely traditional. You can use any effect you like. But buy full-fat yogurt. Whatever the reason, I find it easier to find fat-free options. But why do we give up the wonderful fats in naan? So, bottom line: use full fat sour cream or full fat yogurt, whatever you have will work great. (If you want to be more authentic, you can use yogurt.)
Include. Now we are done with the sugary yogurt debate. Add a little yeast to the warm but not hot milk mixture. Make sure the temperature is not too hot or it will kill the yeast! Add a tablespoon of sugar, stir and wait five minutes to make sure it looks nice and frothy.
Then press in an egg, add a little olive oil, stir in a little salt and flour. Knead for about 5 minutes. Leave to rise for 1 hour.

Just separate it. You can make it into 6 or 8 naans. I actually prefer to make 6 naans and roll them out a bit thicker. Either way will work!

Naan and pita may look similar because they are both flat breads. However, they are different.
