What Is The Spiritual Gift Of Mercy?
God is the most generous giver you will ever know. Think about that for a moment. These are just some of the gifts that the Bible says God has given us.
But the ultimate gift that God offers us is himself. The Bible tells us that God gave himself to us in physical form in the person of Jesus. And when the time came for Jesus to return to his Father in heaven, he gave his presence to his followers to live in them, his Holy Spirit.
So God gives himself as his greatest gift. One of the ways He gives Himself to us is to empower us with what we call spiritual gifts, or the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As you develop and use these gifts for God, His own Spirit works in and through you as you trust Him.

So what does this mean for you and me? If gifts come from God and are given to every Christian, how do you know what gifts you have? And how can you learn to use them?
What Is The Spiritual Gift Of Administration
Before Jesus was crucified, he told his followers that he would return to heaven, but he promised to leave them with their helper, the Holy Spirit.
“And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another advocate, who will help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive him because it does not see him and does not know him. But you know him because he dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17, New International Version)
The Holy Spirit not only comforts and will be with them, but also helps them to continue the work that Jesus started on earth, sharing the good news of what Jesus did with his death and resurrection and encouraging others to believe in him.
The Holy Spirit gave the followers of Jesus spiritual gifts to continue to take the message of Jesus to the world (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:7).
How To Know And Use Your Spiritual Gifts
These gifts were important for spreading the gospel, leading the church, building up believers, and serving as examples of God’s love to others.
Spiritual gifts are sometimes called “gifts of the Holy Spirit.” Whatever term you use, it is important to understand that we are talking about gifts that only come to people who believe in Jesus because His Holy Spirit is in them.
Spiritual gifts are not just special abilities that some followers of Jesus have, any more than people in general have natural abilities. No one should be proud of spiritual gifts because they are simply God expressing himself through people because they are dependent on him.

Therefore, shortly before Jesus promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to his closest friends, the disciples, he gave them an instruction that also serves as a warning:

Can Someone Steal Your Spiritual Gift? No!
Therefore, the spiritual gifts that God gives to people are part of His perfect plan for their lives. He gives the same Spirit to each of His followers because He is His Spirit. But He knows each person perfectly, so He knows which gifts are part of His plan to work through them in the world. Not all of his followers receive the same spiritual gifts.
All of the spiritual gifts that the Bible describes are meaningful and work best when used in the context of living in community with other Christians.
Spiritual gifts are different from talents. Talents are specific skills, such as piano or sports skills. Talents can be practiced and developed through hard work. People who do not have the Holy Spirit still have many talents, and some of them may be similar to the gifts listed below. But they cannot take advantage of the enabling power of the Holy Spirit to exercise those talents.
If you are a follower of Jesus, your gifts may become more apparent as you continue to grow spiritually. Over time, God uses circumstances to help you better understand your gifts and use them as part of His plan.

In His grace, God has given us various gifts to do certain things well. Therefore, if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift serves others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be an encourager. If you give, give generously. If God has given you leadership skills, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have the gift of showing kindness to others, do it. (Romans 12:6-8, NLT)
