This diet is often marketed as a quick fix for losing weight quickly while ridding your body of toxins and giving your digestive system time to rest and heal.

The final part of the master cleanse is: This is important for eliminating waste as the body detoxifies. Because you don’t eat food, you have fewer bowel movements. Our kidneys and bladder are great for cleansing, but we also want to help cleanse our intestines and colon.

We do this using an internal brine tank. Yes, that’s great 🙂 But again, this is an important part of making sure your body gets everything it needs and doesn’t reabsorb toxins through the gut.

This mixture mimics the salt content of the blood, so your body absorbs only the salts and minerals it needs. The rest is then removed via the large intestine.

Drink this salt bath slowly for 10 minutes (do not stir, otherwise the effect will not last :). And the best way to think of it is as a hot, salty soup or broth. After day 2 you won’t care. You must use the toilet within an hour. Once the water is gone, you don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.

After the second day, most of the water is removed, which is good! If you see a yellowish color, it is bile. This means that bile has been released from the gallbladder and the bile ducts and liver have been cleansed!

Can I do this while I’m at work? – Yes! Just drink some lemonade! You’ll want to drink at least six cups a day, so invest in a pint-sized mason jar with a lid so you can make it in the morning and drink it throughout the day.

Do you eat food? – No, this “lemonade” will be your fuel for the next 3+ days. Like I said, going without food can be an unpleasant thought, but as I write this it’s day 4 and I have tons of energy and not hungry yet. Be smart. Don’t test yourself by watching Food Network, going to a restaurant, or scrolling through food photos on Instagram :). This is a quiet time for you to enter and let go of your body.

Can I drink coffee or tea? – No, I would like to avoid stimulating dietary supplements (including alcohol). Coffee and tea are great. They are very motivating, so you should use them from time to time. The more you consume every day, the more energy you burn! You may experience some detox symptoms, but I guarantee you that after day two you will have wings (your own natural wings :)!

How about herbal tea? – Yes, we have herbal tea. It must be organic, caffeine-free and from a rich source. I think something like chamomile would be good too.

Do you drink water on the plane? – Don’t drink as much water as you want! But don’t forget to drink 6 to 12 glasses of “lemonade” every day.

Is it OK to exercise? – During cleaning, light movement without tension or fatigue is necessary. Examples of light exercises: walking, hatha yoga, yin/restorative yoga, stretching. You should do light exercise at least once a day to get your lymph flowing and flush out toxins!
