After a disappointing 2022/23 Premier League season in which Tottenham finished eighth in the table, big changes are taking place at the club.

Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has been tasked with reviving Tottenham and will evaluate a new squad to achieve that goal. Heading into the transfer window, the club appeared keen to address three key issues: an attacking midfielder, a centre-back and a goalkeeper.

The signing of James Maddison from recently relegated Leicester City for £40m appears to have solved one of those problems, while the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Serie A side Empoli for a fee of £17.2m. Dejan Kulusevski has also been secured on a permanent deal after impressing during an 18-month loan spell.

Later, Real Madrid emerged as the next possible destination. However, the Spanish club quickly realized they could not afford Kane’s exorbitant price, especially after spending £88 million on Jude Bellingham.
This has seen Bayern Munich emerge as the only suitors left in the market, but the two clubs appear to have a significant gap in their valuation of transfer fees. Bayern reportedly plan to come back with a revised offer in the coming days. Tottenham maintain their stance that they do not want to sell Kane and, according to the Evening Standard, would require an offer in the region of £100m to even consider a deal.
Frenchman Hugo Lloris, Tottenham’s captain, appears to be on the verge of leaving the club after 11 years. Lloris revealed to French newspaper Nice Martin: “We have reached an important moment, both for the club and for me. It is the end of an era. I have a desire for something different. I will carefully study what is possible.” “.
With the new signing of Guglielmo Vicario, Lloris’ departure seems impossible. Although limited information has been revealed about Lloris’ destination, it is safe to assume that his future lies away from White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s next summer signing looks likely to be Manor Solomon, who spent last season on loan at Fulham after being displaced by Shakhtar Donetsk following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to the Evening Standard, a new deal between Fulham and Adarabioyo has fallen through and with just a year left on his current deal, it looks like he could be on his way out of Craven Cottage. However, Tottenham face competition in their bid to sign Adarabioyo, with Ligue 1 clubs Monaco and Rennes also said to be interested in the England international. While Adarabioyo is said to prioritize sporting opportunities over a local position, Tottenham are still actively involved in the race for the talented defender.
Dutch centre-back Miki van de Ven is reportedly one of Tottenham’s top three centre-back targets. The 22-year-old Van de Ven currently plays for German club Wolfsburg, who Fabrizio Romano has reported has been in contact with Tottenham. Van de Ven appeared in 36 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal games last year and, according to the Daily Mail, is set for a fee of up to £26m. Van de Ven would be an excellent addition to the north London club who are in need of defensive reinforcements.
Edmund Tapsoba has also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as they look for a centre-back. The 24-year-old born in Burkina Faso currently plays in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, coached by Xabi Alonso. Tapsoba has gained valuable experience this season, featuring prominently in both the Champions League and Europa League, making 47 appearances. His impressive form has caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur as they look to strengthen their defensive options. Tottenham may not be the only Premier League side Tapsoba is courting, according to the Daily Mail, with Liverpool reportedly also interested in signing him.
While the signing of James Maddison would add some much-needed creativity to Tottenham’s midfield, the former Leicester midfielder’s arrival could pave the way for the departure of Pierre-Emile Hoiberg. The Swiss midfielder joined in 2020 from Southampton, but The Athletic reports that the club and the player will be open to a summer move. No bids have been reported but there is interest from Atletico Madrid, with a deal likely to be agreed if a bid is accepted for the player, who has two years left on his contract.
