After 6 months, you should introduce solid food and continue breastfeeding until your baby’s first birthday. After this period, both mother and baby can continue to breastfeed as long as they wish.
Breastfeeding protects against respiratory diseases (including bronchitis, viral diseases and pneumonia), ear infections, gastrointestinal disorders and allergies, including eczema, atopic dermatitis and asthma.

Breastfeeding my first child was a milestone journey! Needless to say, I struggled with low milk supply throughout my breastfeeding experience and was stressed from the start. I’ve always had a crush on him.
How To Increase Breast Milk Supply By Pumping
You see, in my first few hours as a labor and delivery nurse, I cared for many nursing mothers.
Although I know breastfeeding is hard, I didn’t realize how much it can affect your life until I experienced it myself. It’s a full-time job at first and takes a lot out of you physically, mentally and emotionally.
Has my son received formula? You’re absolutely right, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I had a bit of a dairy problem from the start. He lost a lot of weight, and according to his pediatrician, it was important that I give him formula to help him regain the weight he had lost.

After giving him formula for the first few days of his life, I dosed him with about one to two 4oz bottles of formula a day for most of his life – until we switched to whole milk around his first birthday.

And although I say I’m not ashamed, I beat myself up for it. I was mad at myself for not taking more care of her in the beginning because she probably would have produced better milk.
I felt guilty. Maybe I should have tried harder? Maybe I should have pumped longer? I used to envy other moms, wanting to know what it was like to binge eat and pump 6-8 ounces at a time.
Ok, let’s get down to the list! I rated all of these techniques on a scale of 0-10. Zero is a waste of my time, ten is the best I’ve tried. ,
However, I want to take these rankings with a very big caveat. What works for me may not work for you, and what doesn’t work for me may work very well for you.
Nigerian Foods That Boost Breast Milk Production And Supply
Increasing your milk supply requires trial and error. And it takes perseverance and determination.
I can’t tell you how much water I drank last year to stock up. The truth is, if you’re dehydrated, you won’t be able to produce as much milk. I noticed an increase in the number of days I was running to the bathroom.
So the Gatorade theory is that your electrolytes need to be in check in order for your body to produce milk. Anyone with an unbalanced electrolyte balance (such as someone who is dehydrated) will not have a very good milk supply.
By pumping extra electrolytes and water into your system, your body will return to normal and start producing more milk again.

Unless you have an electrolyte imbalance, drinking Gatorade is not good for your milk ducts.
The water was a little underrated because I thought that was what water was made of and to be honest, Gatorade is full of sugar!
If you’re already eating enough protein, this is another one that won’t help you much! At least it wasn’t for me. There is some confusion, but as I understand it, breastfeeding moms need about 65-75 grams of protein per day (read all about breastfeeding here).
Breastfeeding mothers use a lot of energy to produce milk. Along with adequate amounts of carbohydrates, protein is the building block of your entire body.
How To Increase Breast Milk Through Food
The theory goes that moms who have a bit of a supply problem may not have enough protein stores, so they need more hamburgers and steaks. Or a protein shake, I did that. I was a little more energetic, but did it help my milk supply? No, not really.
Okay, I’ll admit that thought crossed my mind. If more milk is to be made, why not drink more milk? No, it doesn’t really work.
I’ll give it a chance to fight because I think my milk supply is up a bit after eating a ton of brewer’s yeast. You can bake lactation cookies, make smoothies, or add them to any other type of food.
I will say that it has a very strong taste, so cover it well. The cookies were my favorite. However, it didn’t affect my milk supply in the long run. I noticed the drop right after I stopped taking it.

While I’ve heard miracles, it can work for you too. In fact, I’ve been eating so much oatmeal in the last year that I’m sick of it and I think my relationship with oatmeal has been permanently affected. #shutters
Coconut oil is high in soluble fats and do you know what breast milk is made of? A lot of fat. This is the idea behind it.
Don’t worry, I didn’t eat it straight from the tub. I use it more and more in place of butter or other oils I cook/bake with.
A list of things related to parenting, motherhood, or kids that haven’t mentioned coconut oil, have you done it? ,

I’m really excited about it. Whether added to sweets, cookies or baking, chia seeds have become increasingly popular over the past decade. They are believed to increase breast milk production as they are an excellent source of nutrients. They didn’t work for me personally.
I tried several different recipes and this was my favorite. Lactation cookies are basically a combination of some of the foods I’ve described (mainly oats and brewer’s yeast).
They are also very tasty and honestly, after feeding a newborn all night, you need cookies for breakfast!
