It’s unclear what prompted the breakup or whether it was related to the winter storm that swept much of the country.

“Tonight, some wireless customers experienced dialing errors when calling long-distance landlines from their wireless phones,” Verizon spokesman Chris McCain said in a statement. “The issue was resolved at 6:30 a.m. For your information, We apologize for the inconvenience.”
McCann said the company is still investigating the matter. He added that “wireless calls, local calls and 911 calls were not affected” and text messaging and internet usage were not affected by the fire.
On DownDetector, a website that uses social media maps to pinpoint service outages, the map highlights the most affected areas in red. These include New York City, Richmond, Chicago, Omaha and Virginia Beach. The fire started Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning. Today, maps show signs of fire in parts of Florida.
The police department also released a message about the accident. Earlier Wednesday, Reno police tweeted that “Verizon has notified us that this is a nationwide outbreak that is not expected to be repaired.” The department advised residents that “911 remains for life-threatening calls only.” Emergency situations.”

Verizon Reportedly Having Service Outages In Carolinas Wednesday
I just lost all internet access during Zoom. All of my blogs are off service (Xfinity Comcast) and may be more extensive than that. I have no idea.
Since I’m using a customer-issued laptop, I can’t log into the backup service (via Verizon).
The meeting is coordinated by a professional recruitment company. Invitations do not include backup or zoom numbers. I also don’t have direct contact information for the participants. They do not share this information unless purchased separately.
I tried three different devices before I realized it was an internet service issue. Then I sent a message to a colleague who followed up the call. (Unable to access slack bc’s interrupt). She sent me a Zoom recruiter to call the number, but it didn’t work on my personal device.

She eventually added me to the meeting by joining the call and called me on speaker phone to continue the meeting. Thank god my chat guide is offline.
I’ll let the recruiter know about this situation (once I have the client issued laptop and access to the internet again) to make sure we have a backup.

Verizon’s outages affected all parts of the U.S., primarily throughout coastal states, and occurred Thursday morning and afternoon.
DownDetector provides a real-time overview of service outages, showing the northeastern part of the country is most affected. According to the fire map, Columbus, Ohio, New York City, Houston, Pittsburgh, Lansing, Michigan, Chicago, Indianapolis, Brooklyn, New York, and Grand Rapids, Michigan are the places most affected by the fires. The map also shows various sites in the State College and Bellefonte areas.
Verizon customers took to social media Thursday to voice complaints about the service. Verizon responded to some people by telling them to turn off their devices and then turn them back on.
Hello, We know our customers rely on our services every day to stay connected. If you have trouble calling, turn your device off for a while and then turn it back on. Then everything should work! *CMV — Verizon Wireless CS (@VZWSupport) October 17, 2019
